FREQUENCY ADVERBS

Adverbs of frequency are used to describe how frequently we do an activity. They tell us how often something happens.

Example: I always drink lots of coffee.
                           I usually drive to work.
I frequently go to the gym.
I often go out for dinner at the weekend.
I sometimes watch TV in the evening.
                           I occasionally eat Chinese food.
                           I rarely go clubbing.
                           I seldom go sailing.
                           I hardly ever eat seafood.
                           I never smoke.

Adverbs of frequency come before a main verb EXCEPT for the verb to be which goes after.

Example: I am always on time. /  I am never late.

If we use an auxiliary verb (can, must.....) then the adverb is placed in the middle of the two verbs.

Example: I can always call him in the morning.
He must never know our secret.

Sometimes, usually, frequently and occasionally can come at the beginning or the end of a sentence too.

Example: Sometimes, I prefer to stay at home at the weekend.
Occasionally, we meet at the cafeteria for a drink.

Other frequency expressions:

Every day/week/month/year
Once a day
Twice a week
Three times a month
Four times a year

Here you are lots of practice

Fun or funny (that's the question)

The last day we studied in class the difference between "fun" and "funny".
The Oxford dictionary says:
-Fun: Amusing, entertaining, or enjoyable (It was a fun evening. Let's have fun)
-Funny: Causing laughter or amusement; humorous (A funny story. The play is hilariously funny)

It is said that every language has funny expressions or idioms. The example it is shown can be a little bit weird at first sight. Try to read it and understand it as well as you can, otherwise you can translate it into your language.
I hope you have fun. Regardless of you found it funny or not.

Did you find the text funny or you had fun while you were reading it. The most important is having a big smile on your face.

New year resolutions!

New Year resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a personal goal, project, or the reforming of a habit. This lifestyle change is generally interpreted as advantageous. A New Year's Resolution is generally a goal someone sets out to accomplish in the coming year.

Read this funny poem
New Year's Resolutions by Bruce Lansky

Last year I did some rotten things.
This year I will be better.

Here are some resolutions
I will follow to the letter:
I won't make dumb excuses
when my homework isn't done;
when the truth is that I did no work
'cause I was having fun.
I won't fly paper airplanes
when the teacher isn't looking.
I won't sneak in the kitchen
just to taste what they are cooking.
I will not twist the silverware
to see how far it bends.
I will not take the candy bars
from lunch bags of my friends.
I will not skateboard down the hall
or skateboard down the stairs.
I won't run over teachers,
and I won't crash into chairs.
I will not do these rotten things;
my heart is full of sorrow.
But I have got some brand-new tricks
to try in school tomorrow.

What's for sure, if you manage to keep these promises, it will make you feel better about yourself.
Therefore, start listing your resolutions for this new year!
Let's try!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hope you all have a happy and healthy 2015!

May all your dreams come true!!
